if your board is experiencing an error 15, it most likely indicates an issue with the front footpad. An error 15 can be triggered by a few things, most commonly:
- The rider has their hand/fingers on the front footpad while the board is powering on
- Dirt/debris has built up on the front footpad and needs to be cleaned
- Physical damage to the sensor in the form of deep dings, scratches, gouges, or peeling of the grip tape
- An issue with the board’s internal computer (not related to the footpad itself)
Please try each step below and if the error persists, please move onto the next step:
1. Turn on the board and ensure nothing touches the front footpad while pressing the power button.
2. Clean the footpad and remove any stuck-on dirt/debris. You can do so with a dry brush or with one of our grip tape erasers or cleaning kits. Please do not use any water when cleaning the front footpad.
3. Remove the footpad and disconnect it from the board’s controller. Turn on the board to see if the error clears. If it does, then it may be time to replace your footpad. Attached to this email are instructions on how to remove the front footpad. Please follow the instructions on the attached PDF, Steps 1 through 5.
a. While following these instructions, it’s important to note that the board must be shut down. When removing the connector cable away from the controller module make sure the locking collar is loosened. If you feel resistance, be sure that you are twisting the correct piece before continuing. (Please see photo (disregard that the photo is not a Pint (X) footpad; the connector piece is the same))
b. If you feel uncomfortable disconnecting the footpad from the board, please let us know and we can provide further guidance. Forcing it can result in costly damage.
c. If the error stops when the footpad is removed, please plug the footpad back in and power the board on. Is the error 15 present? If so, then it means it is time to replace the footpad.
If your footpad was purchased less than 6 months old and there is no physical damage, it may be covered under warranty. Please contact our support team with your proof of purchase (either Onewheel.com order number or receipt from a certified retailer) and a picture showing the front footpad.
If your footpad is older than 6 months, it may be time to purchase new ones.
