Before trying to troubleshoot any problems with the Onewheel App, the first thing you want to check is to make sure your Onewheel App is up-to-date. Check your device's app store to make sure that you have the latest version.
If you are having issues connecting to a board there are some important things to check. First, a Onewheel can only be paired while it is on and can connect to one device at a time. If you have already paired your board to another device, open the Onewheel App on the device you paired with and disconnect. The board should show up on the board list as available to pair. If you still do not see the board on the board list, verify the board is still on and if it can be paired with a different device. If you are using an Android device you will need to have location services enabled to pair with a board.
If your board is attempting to "Activate" by connecting to a device for the first time, please note this can take a minute and is quicker if the board is not being ridden. We recommend you connect to your board for the first time when you are either connected to a wireless network or have a strong cell signal to make sure it activates quickly. If you hop on and start riding while your board is trying to activate, it may stay stuck on that screen until you stop the board and give it a chance to upload. You can always power the board off and back on and give it another opportunity to activate. If you are still having problems with activation you may want to check to make sure the network you are on has a stable internet connection or try again on a different network.
If you are losing connection to your board while riding, it is important to note where your device is in relation to your board. Bluetooth does have a limited range, and things like phone cases that hold credit cards or designed to block signals may interfere with your Bluetooth capabilities. The best way to ensure a strong connection is to keep the phone as close to the rider detection footpad as possible, like in your front pocket.
