As we continue to expand on the GT's capabilities we will be able to push firmware updates remotely via the Onewheel App! Firmware updates via the app generally contain additional features and tweaks to current one to maximize the ability of your board.
If you are interested in learning what is in the latest GT firmware update, check out our video here.
To make updating as easy as possible, once you connect to a board that does not have the latest firmware, you should receive a pop-up letting you know an update is available and letting you update the board as well as instructions on how to do so. If you dismiss the notification you will get it again the next time you connect to the board. When updating your board it is crucial that you leave the device that is performing the update WITH the board and do not minimize the app. Doing so could interfere with the update and make you start over, or worst case corrupt your firmware. In order to make sure your board does not shut off during the update it is also important that if your board's charge is over 50% you do not connect it to the charger, or if it is under 50% you connect and leave it on the charger. Please note that it is normal for your Lightbar to flash during the update process. Once complete you will see the screen on your phone update and your board will restart.
If you do not see the notification when you connect to the board, first check to make sure your Onewheel App itself is up to date by checking your app store to make sure you are on the latest version. Once you know your app is up to date, pair to your GT. If you were already connected or automatically paired, disconnect from the board and manually connect. If you still do not see the update you might already be on the latest firmware. If you believe you are not, take note of both your app version (bottom of the navigation bar when you press the 3 bars) and the firmware number (listed under diagnostics when you press the gear icon) and let us know and we can check on your board's firmware
